Topic: RE: Bean Soup Anyone?
I changed my insurance from hmo to ppo, in order to have this surgery, not knowing the plan had changed and weight loss surgery is an exclusion , now I am seeking an insurance company that will cover this surgery for individual, but so far not successful.
Thank you in advance

Topic: RE: BCBS approval question
I have BCBS and my surgery was 3/16/10 - I did all the necessary requirements (for mine - it was 6 months worth) and once they submitted, it only took a few days. I received the call back from my clinic that we had all the approval and that it would be good for a year, and if I wanted to schedule now or wait! I said, um, NOW. LOL
They are all different, and as long as you followed all the guidelines for your insurance, you should have approval relatively quickly.
Best of luck and hope you get news soon!

Topic: Beautiful fall Monday morning weigh-in
Okay, it's a gorgeous day and I am trying really hard to have a gorgeous day attitude. However, I still have stuff that hasn't been fixed in my apartment, so I can't put boxes away yet. Then I went to the clubhouse to workout this morning and I couldn't get in--it was locked up tight. The sign on the door said it was open at 6am, and this was 7am! Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I tried both doors and could not get in. So no workout this morning, which makes me grumpy.
I'm trying to get my consistency mojo back and things like this get in the way. It is showing on the scale:
Starting weight: 298.4
Last week: 139.4
This week: 141.0
Gain of 1.6 lbs this week
So over the last two weeks of moving stress, I have gained 3.7 lbs!! Yikes!
This is a new week, and I'm going to do better. I will workout tonight, and I have running scheduled for Tues, Wed, Thurs and Sat. So that should help.
Ran 4.3 miles on Saturday morning before coffee group--it was great having Deb, Allan and Julie run with me! Same plan up for this coming Sat--anybody who wants to run before Eagan coffee, please join us at Byerly's/Caribou in Eagan at 8am. Coffee group is at 8:30. cya!

Topic: RE: Sent in my forms to Park Nicollet
Is anyone in the beginning stages of WLS with Park Nicollet. I'm just filling out my information packet right now. I have a ton of questions and could use a "buddy" to go through this with. Especially since I'm keeping this quiet IRL, except with my Husband and my Mom.
Topic: RE: BCBS approval question
Hi Cindy... I also had BCBS, however, it was 5 1/2 years ago so I'm sure things have changed since then plus I'm sure it's different for everyone but my experience was this... I thought I had completed everything and had it all turned in by November 4 but it seemed to be taking FOREVER to hear back from them so I called to find out what the hold up was and they said "Oh, didn't someone call you?"... ???? ... They wanted me to jump through yet ANOTHER hoop in order to get approved... They wanted me to go on a 3-month physician supervised diet before they would consider me... My surgeon called BCBS on December 27 basically telling them that was RIDICULOUS, BCBS then called me on January 12 to say I was approved and on January 29 I had my surgery...Good luck to you and if it seems to be taking too long, just call them and bug them every couple of days until you get an answer... Michelle

Topic: South of the River Coffee--and pre-meeting run!
Hi All:
If you are not in the Facebook group, I wanted to post an open invitation here also. Tomorrow morning is our regular South of the River coffee group. Tomorrow is at 8:30am at the Panera Bread located in Burnsville Center. Please feel free to join us! This is a very informal group, and we welcome anybody at any stage of the WLS process.
For those interested, we are doing a pre-meeting run tomorrow morning. If you would like to join us, wear your running clothes and show up at 8am at Panera. We will run a 2 mile course around the outside of the mall (so dress for the weather!) before the meeting. For die-hards, meet at 7:30am if you'd like to do two laps (4 miles). If you prefer to bike alongside us, feel free to bring your bike. Or if you prefer to walk, there may be some takers for walking also.
See you tomorrow!!

I agree with Darla! I know that it's hard, and I really don't mean to minimize your difficulties. It sounds to me like you are suffering from clinical depression and eating to self-medicate. But I am not a doctor, and I don't play one on TV
Assuming you are getting appropriate medical care, I echo what Darla said. Try and find some out-of-the-house connections. Play groups or maybe a walking group would be a good start. Do you have a decent stroller for your daughter? Walking is how I started with exercise after surgery. Every time I felt like eating when I shouldn't, I went out for a walk. Get yourself a pedometer, and try to take a few more steps every day.
When you are depressed, taking those first steps can be like climbing a mountain! but you will feel a little bit better and a little bit less tired every day. And you will be setting a good example of lifetime skills for your daughter.
Are there any support groups near you? We would love to have you come to the South of the River group--we meet tomorrow morning at 8:30am at Burnsville Center, in the Panera. Bring your daughter if you need to, we are a happy and inclusive group.

'...so I am always grazing, looking to make that hunger go away.'
Honey, I don't think the hunger you're looking to satisfy is a food-based hunger. You need to fill the emotional void you've described, and that's a whole lot trickier than putting food in your body. (One question, are you drinking with your meals? That could have a lot to do with possibly feeling an actual sense of HUNGER so soon after a meal. No drinking for 30 minutes before and after your meals. You know that, we had the same surgeon...)
You need to find a way to get out, meet some people, make some friends. Is there a mom's group in your area? A church - perhaps with a daycare or preschool operation you could get involved in? You have to make the effort to fill THAT void, so that you aren't attempting to sooth yourself with food. All that comes from eating to fill your emptiness is regret.
Force yourself to find a social life. Do it for your daughter - so she makes friends and learns social behaviors, and so that she doesn't someday imitate the behaviors you have described being stuck in. Trust me on that one - I have a nearly 20 year old daughter that breaks my heart every day - although she and I are very different kinds of people, she is heavier at 19 than I was, by far.
If you have a therapist, use him/her. Don't give up on yourself - if anything, find a way to become DETERMINED to beat your cir****tances - because the only person that has the power to change them is YOU. Good luck ~
